Delhi University emerge KPL champions

Delhi University emerged champions in the 6th KIIT Premier League (KPL), defeating host Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) by five wickets in the final of the All-India Inter-University Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at KIIT campus here today.
Andhra University finished third, defeating SRM University (Chennai) by three wickets in the play-off match. Champions Delhi, runners-up KIIT received cash prizes of Rs 2 lakhs and Rs 1.5 lakhs respectively. Andhra and SRM became richer by Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Former India pace bowler Atul Wassan presented the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function. KIIT founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, vice-chancellor Prof P P Mathur and joint-registrar Dr Sucheta Priyabadini were present on the occasion. The week-long tournament, featuring eight teams, was earlier inaugurated by former India allrounder Dinesh Mongia.
Delhi allrounder Ankit Dabas, who was adjudged both man of the final and man of the tournament, pocketed a total cash prize of Rs 13,000. Sunil Kumar (SRM), GDS Suresh Kumar (Andhra), Jigni Singde (KIIT) and Debi Prasad Acharya (KIIT) became richer by Rs 5,000 each as the best best batsman, best bowler, best fielder and best wicket-keeper respectively.
